On March 8, the Math Team won their final regular match at MSSM. They took the awards for first, second and third and the Large School Champions award. This means that they’re going to the finals in Augusta to go against bigger challenges and more challenging opponents.

I asked the adviser of the math team, Mrs. LaPointe, how she feels about coaching them and how she feels about them going to Augusta. “The state runs a state math meet every year, we participate in five regular meets based on the area we live in, like different counties, and then everyone gets to go to States, so we’re excited that we’re finally doing a state meet in person this year, so I’m pretty excited to take my team down and compete and see how we can see how we do against everybody else in the state.”

I then asked a member of the math team, Max Graves ’24, how he feels about the regionals. “I’m super excited to take the trip down to Augusta to represent our school and to have fun with the other mathletes,” Graves said.
