With the spring sports season starting, PIHS softball and baseball teams are getting warmed up for the year. Because of the snow, the teams are starting off in a gym, making it harder for the teams to run around and do daily warm ups. This is par for the course living in northern Maine.

“The energy has been great at practice despite being inside,” Emily Straetz ’23 said. “I know all of the girls are excited to get outside on the field. Being in the gym is always the most annoying part of the season, but because of our location it’s essential to our spring training. However, it can then be difficult to compete with downstate teams that are outside from the very start.”

The softball team is traveling to Brunswick on April 16 to play in the Brunswick Play Day, then on their way back on April 18, they will play two games in Old Town. The baseball team will be traveling on Friday April 14 to Lewiston High School for two weekend games, then they will have a game in Kennebunk, and on their way back they will have two games in Old Town.
