Whether you’re a Dunkin lover or a Tim’s lover, it’s almost guaranteed you’re stopping somewhere in the morning. For PIHS students, especially those of you with your own car, coffee is a must every day. The homeroom bell rings at 8:12 a.m. gives a limited window of time to get your caffeine fix. We took it upon ourselves to do the legwork to find out the fastest place to get your coffee and still get to school on time.

We stuck it out day after day for one week, in the drive thru coffee lines that set nearly everyone’s morning back, especially when there’s that one person who orders three dozen donuts for the entire office and, of course, their large double espresso shot, liquid sugar with a splash of almond milk, but just a splash, and two shots of blueberry and mocha.

Here’s what we found out, based on a drive through time of 7:30 a.m. each day:

  • Tim Horton’s has an average wait time of 6 minutes over a five day span.
  • Dunkin Donut’s has an average wait time of 7.75 minutes over a four day span*.
  • Our data was taken from the time we got in the line until we got our order of a medium iced coffee with three and three and a medium iced mocha coffee with three and three.
  • The average drive-thru line at Tim Horton’s consists of about six cars.
  • The average drive-thru line at Dunkin Donuts consists of about four cars.

The facts are in on your favorite coffee stops in Presque Isle. The fastest coffee stop for PIHS students is . . . Tim Hortons.  If you’ve got to hurry to make it to school before the homeroom bell then you might want to hit Tim’s.

* The Dunkin Donuts data is based on a four day average because on Wednesday the second the line was so long it would have prevented one of us from getting to the bus on time.
