It was deja vu for the Presque Isle boys Wednesday night as they took on the Fort Fairfield Tigers on their home turf. The rainy affair saw the Wildcats roll over their opponent for the second straight game with a resounding 7-0 victory led by a hat trick from freshman Evan Chapman.

From the opening kickoff, it was clear what direction the game was trending, but it would take over 23 minutes before anyone would find the back of the net, when freshman Jenson Sargent put a bouncing shot over the head of Tigers’ goalie Kobe West, who had already stopped 16 shots at that point in the contest.

Sargent’s goal opened the floodgates for the Wildcats, who would pour on another two goals in the next ten minutes or so before a beautiful cross from the freshman found Chapman in front for his second of the game with under five left in the half.

Coming out of the break, it would be the same story, as Chapman notched his third just three minutes into the half before returning the favor and setting up Sargent off a rebound for his second of the night a few minutes later.

Shortly thereafter, the ball would find its way to sophomore Jack Hallett at the top of the box, where he launched a screamer just below the cross bar for the first goal of his high school career. “When he [Coach McCue] told me to go in on the wing, he asked me if I was going to score, and my first response was. ‘Yes, sir,’,” said Hallett after the game. “When I went in, the ball dropped perfectly to me. I saw two defenders closing in space so I knew I had to shoot and I did.”

With the win, Presque Isle improves to 3-1 on the season. They face Houlton on the road next Tuesday before coming home to play rival Caribou on Friday.
