Talen Horton-Tucker, who the Los Angeles Lakers chose with the 46th pick in the 2019 NBA draft showed great potential scoring 33 points and 10 rebounds in the Lakers win against the Los Angeles Clippers. Lebron James, the Lakers main star, has noticed his potential, tweeting “Telling you right now! This kid is flat out SPECIAL! Mark my words.”

Being 6 foot 4 with a 7 foot 1 wingspan and weighing in at 234 as a small forward and guard, he can be useful on the defensive end and be dominant on the offensive end. Normally averaging 5.7 points and 1.2 rebounds per game, this was a stand out game for him. The league is seeing more and more late round picks standing up and showing their skills in game. Horton-Tucker could have an amazing NBA career if he keeps working. I compare his play style to Jamal Crawford because he is not the best shooter but still utilizes his size at shooting guard driving to the paint. If he can also get his free throw percentage up, he will be able to drive to the paint every time and hopefully draw a foul because his free throw percentage right now is around 50 percent.

A lot of trades are going around the league right now and a trade for Talen Horton-Tucker wouldn’t be terrible for his future. Being on a winning team is always good but if he wants to consistently show his skills, being traded to a team like the Denver Nuggets or the Miami Heat where everyone seems to shine would be a great fit.

Tucker seems to have a promising future if injuries don’t get to him. Even though a trade would be good, he seems to like the Lakers and feel the most comfortable there.
