Even in the midst of art class, Michael Langley ‘23 cannot hide his Wildcat pride. As a basketball, and baseball player he has experienced the excitement of being an athlete at Presque Isle High School and it has developed into a passion. The intensity of knowing plays, reaching your full potential, and putting 100% effort into every game, not only makes you a better player, but a better person. Langley says his goals for next year are to “do whatever I can to help the team, and to make us better.” Many high school boys tend to focus on their personal goals, but Langley clearly cares about more. He cares about how he can better the team.

Hard work is a virtue, and Michael is no stranger to it. Whether it’s on the field or in the classroom he gives it his all. “Just make sure you work hard, that can get you far,” Langley said. “Always, always, just make sure you work hard.”

As his basketball season has come to a successful end Langley says, “I was worried at the beginning of the season that we weren’t going to have one.” Many athletes have expressed their gratefulness for the unique season we have had though everyone dreams of sports being normal once again. Langley says “all the energy in the gym directly depends on the bench now since we have no fans.” Players look forward to the days where they will have a crowd once again.

As Langley is a high school student, he is still unsure of what he wants to do with his future. Because of his passion for sports, he says that he wants to “be an athletic trainer.” However he is unsure of what college to attend. Luckily for him, as a sophomore, he still has multiple years to figure out where he wants to go.
