Why are there no cheerleaders?

Fall cheering lacks numbers, no team

Look up! Cheerleader Courtney Dockham 26 performs a stunt at halftime during a game last year. “I was looking down so I could help flip Emma.” Courtney Dockham 26

Only one girl arrived at tryouts. It seems like the students who cheer were more inclined to participate in the winter season. “ I find it annoying because all the freshmen that want to do winter cheer should do fall so they know their stuff,” Courtney Dockham ‘26 said. “We are going to spend half of winter just learning cheers.”

Is there a chance for fall cheer to come back before the season is over? “Yes, but it would have to be pretty quick,” Athletic Director Mark White said. “We are already at Labor Day now, I would say it would have to be within the next week or so to see if we could put that on there. It’s on hiatus this year. We haven’t cut the program. We’d need to have 6-9 kids this year then I’m open to it.”

It seems there will be no fall cheering team. Winter cheering tryouts will be November 20 and the sign up sheet is out now.
