The tradition of prom parade

Class of 2024 has their turn in annual prom parade

On Saturday, May 4, our seniors had their prom. It was hosted at the Legacy Ranch from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. They also had their prom parade at our high school before prom. This prom parade is a Presque Isle High School tradition. The tradition consists of the seniors driving through the tunnel near the gym and showing off their vehicles, suits and dresses.

So how long has this tradition been around? “It was not a thing when I went to prom in 1988,” Mrs. Carney said. However, it was a thing in 1991. So it has been a tradition since the late 80s/ early 90s.

PIHS students watch as the memorial parade is held for Wesley Coty on April 25. “I think it was cool how they got different companies to come out, and orange was his favorite color, so it was a good way to commemorate him,” Karter Poisson ‘27 said. The parade passed by the high school at 1:00 and students watched for about 30 minutes.

Why is it so dark? The moon completely covered the sun in the totality of the solar eclipse. The totality occurred at 3:32 p.m. “The pink flare we saw during the eclipse is 3 times the diameter of our Earth,” Mrs. Gamblin said. The next eclipse in North America will be in 2044.

Look at that sign. “My second year students built that sign this year actually,” Mr. Bragan said. This is just one of the many amazing opportunities that our CTE wing can offer you.

Anything blue. The sophomore class cheers their classmates on during Battle of the Bands while wearing class t-shirts for the dress up day. “I didn’t like Adam Sandler or this dress up day as much, because you can’t get as creative,” Kayleigh Swanson ’26 said.

Line them up. A good comparison of the sneakers and their features side by side. “Wait, they have glitter ones? I want a glitter pair, Emma Bard 26 said while talking about Converse High Tops.

Last set of the year
Dancing the night away. Peyton McKinley 26 dances with her friend at the Winter Ball. “I prefer longer dresses, because I feel more comfortable dancing in them,” she said. The Winter Ball was held on March 15 from 7-10 pm.
