On Saturday, Jan. 20, Presque Isle High School hosted the Big East cheer competition. With their season halfway through, the Wildcat cheer team competed against multiple other schools in the Big East division.
After placing second in the County meet in Caribou a week earlier, the Wildcats had high hopes going into this competition. “I am super excited. Our team has worked incredibly hard and made awesome progress. Of course we want to win but we are looking forward to having fun doing what we love to do,” Abi Reed ’27 said. “We have some hard stunts in there but the hardest is the pyramid when we do a one man liberty. We do this with a brace group on each side.”
“I think we have the potential to win, if we hit the clean routine that our coach taught us I think we have a chance,” Melodi Craig ’26 said. The girls have been practicing their stunts and routines for a while, and have made lots of changes.
With the pre-game thoughts of coming out on top, the Presque Isle girls placed 4th in Class B Big East. The Ellsworth Eagles took home the win.
