Have you sensed any holiday vibes flowing in the air lately? Though Thanksgiving is still days away, PIHS students have noticed that several spots in school have already been embellished with Christmas decorations. From Karen’s giant tree beside the main entrance, covered in Maine-themed ornaments created by students in Ms. Whitten-Smith’s sculpture class, to the cozy lights brightening the CTE classrooms, the holiday spirit has officially woken up from hibernation like Mariah.
Nevertheless, the classic debate of whether now it’s a good time for the Christmas atmosphere continues this year. “My family started watching Christmas movies right after Halloween so I don’t think it’s early,” Jolea Robinson ’25 said. “Also, they are pretty.” On the other hand, “It’s not even Thanksgiving so it’s just weird to put those on now,” Hunter Craig ’26 said.
Regardless of the controversy, the presence of those Christmas decorations would serve to remind us that a year is coming to an end, and that gift-shopping should be put on the schedule soon.

Karen and I have the tree up mid-November so that the community can see your Ornaments when our family and friends pop-in for the Musical, and Parent/Teacher Conferences.
