The Presque Isle Light Parade was held on Dec. 1. It was the 34th annual Light Parade. The parade officially began at 6:00, but the streets were starting to fill by the time 4 o’clock rolled around. Main Street was jammed tight with people; most were on the street standing and cheering, while others were inside restaurants or shops trying to stay warm.
This year the people handing out candy did something different: they handed it out instead of tossing the candy for children to rush and race to grab. The reason they did this was for safety purposes to keep children from going in the street.
Reactions to the safer candy sharing were mixed. “I think it was better when they threw the candy because there was more candy,” Davina Stevenson ’27 said. “It’s stupid because they missed a whole bunch of people who actually want candy,” Adrian Dow ’27 said. “It’s smart because it’s not as aggressive as it normally is when they throw it,” Piper Farnum ’27 said.
