The Wildcat girls pump up for a home game during the regular season. The ‘Cats won their quarterfinal game and will go to the semi-final game against Hermon on Wednesday, November 1.

The PIHS varsity girls soccer team won their quarterfinal game against the number one undefeated Oceanside. Presque Isle was the ninth seed going into the game, having won their prelimary game over Erskine Academy. The Wildcats managed to pull away with the 2-1 victory. Their success comes from within. “We are a soccer family,” Kacie Marston ’25 said. The team knew that their strength came from the bonds they built around them. “Our team energy comes from growing together,” Marston said.

Peyton Boinske ’26 scored both goals in Oceanside in the first half. Despite the losses the team has had isn’t holding them back; they still know they have a chance in the semifinal game against Hermon. “We all have to be on our toes and work together to be able to win the next one,” Astra Laughton ’26 said.

The team isn’t just close on the field, but they say that traditions are crucial, one of them being carb nights. “These carb nights are crucial for our team because they help bring us together and communicate more efficiently,” Laughton said.

The cats will play in Hermon on Saturday, October 28 in Hermon. “Our goals for Hermon are to play as hard as we can to make it further than last year,” Laughton said.
