On Wednesday, October 12 the girls varsity soccer team runs across the field at halftime up 3-0 at halftime against the Caribou Vikings. Olivia Locke ‘25 expresses how beating your rival in front of your hometown crowd is just a different feeling than any other game. “A close second to beating Old Town was beating Caribou,” said Locke. “You don’t understand it until it happens.”

On April 28, the PIHS boys and girls tennis teams traveled to Madawaska to compete in their first matches. The teams both won 5 and 0. Madawaska is one of the few schools that gets to compete at an indoor court, which means matches there aren't at the mercy of bad weather or court conditions.

Varsity girls basketball coach Jeff Hudson helps his team wrap up their prelim win over Belfast on February 15, marking the end of a 23 year career on the PIHS home court sidelines.  Hudson believes there will never be a better gym than this one. “My favorite gym to play in is PIHS. It was a great place and we had an incredible record there,” Hudson said. “It created a lot of excitement and a huge home court advantage.”

Faith Sjoberg '22 gets congratulated by her teammates after scoring her 1,000th career basketball point on February 15 at home against Belfast in the preliminary round. She reached the long awaited benchmark during her very last home game in high school, as they will head to tournament in Bangor on Saturday. “I actually think I was more outwardly emotional than Faith was, because I just immediately started crying,“ teammate Anna Jandreau '23 said. “I was so excited and happy for her because it’s such an unbelievable goal for her to reach.”

On December 14 the varsity hockey team hosted their first home game of the season against Houlton/Hodgdon, winning 5-1. As of right now there has only been one other home game since. Unlike last year, fans are allowed to attend home games, when they happen. “We know the home games are important for our players' families, but it is also for the youth hockey program and the community at large. We can’t wait to play in front of our fans,” said head coach Carl Flynn.

For the first time since the 2019 season, all spectators were welcome back into the gym. "What I missed most last year is when you made a basket, there was no one there to cheer you on," said Kane.

Before the pandemic, Jack Boone ‘23 poses with his two siblings and his grandparents from Canada. “I’m very excited for this holiday, as my family will be back together,” said Boone. Boone did not get to spend last Thanksgiving with his Canadian family due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Presque Isle High School Athletes enjoy taking pictures with Class C state champions, Waynflete. Waynflete had an game exciting victory over Fort Kent on Saturday. “It’s amazing the intensity players have when they are playing for a goal ball,” said Hunter Reed ‘24.
